Hanna Mignano is a violinist/composer based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Hanna began playing the violin at an early age under the tutelage of Romanian violinist/artist, Anca Gavris. By high school, Hanna was performing regularly and touring the world with several different youth orchestras, although she was growing restless within the confines of classical music. It was during her time at Toledo School for the Arts that she began exploring the realm of jazz and improvisation, at which point she decided to dedicate all of her energy to honing her skills as a jazz musician. She continued her practice for the next several years in Cleveland, Ohio , having the opportunity to study and perform with local sax legend, Ernie Krivda through Tri-C's music program.
Fast forward several years, where Hanna's love of jazz manouche led her to the west coast; San Francisco Bay Area, specifically. It was here that she performed and toured with the Jimmy Grant Ensemble; she also got to perform for a time with one of her earliest musical influences, the Hot Club of San Francisco.
Following the California wildfires in 2017, Hanna relocated to (and now currently resides in) New Orleans, Louisiana where she continues to develop her musical identity as a composer and bandleader. Her quartet just released a new album of originals and jazz manouche/trad arrangements (available for purchase here) and can be seen performing regularly around the city.
